INTRODUCTION

This course is design to help you understand and implement the effective legal compliance program in your plant and proper chemical handling, management and response during emergency.

OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the legal requirement of chemical handling, identification, storage, labeling, handling and disposal.
  • Implement the proper procedures in handling of chemicals at work place.
  • Importance of MSDS at workplace.
  • How to use the MSDS to avoid situations, which might result in a hazardous exposure.
  • Manage the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Implement proper techniques to handle, control and prevent spills

FACILITATOR

Dr. Sivakumar

Dr. Sivakumar is an experienced consultant and trainer for chemical handling, emergency response and control of spillage. He has assisted many organizations to implement proper management of chemical and waste.

Dr. Sivakumar has had over 14 years of technical, managerial and training experiences across many industries such as electronic, electrical, spray painting, construction and parts assembly.

Started his career as an engineer in a well known multi national, Dr. Sivakumar gained vast experience in dealing effectively with lower and upper level of management. His practical approach in identifying, establishing and implementing methods of problem solving is an added advantage in his consultancy and servicing activities. He his also a qualified Auditor for QMS ISO 9001:2000 and EMS ISO 14001:2004.

Besides that, Dr.Sivakumar is a member of Business Council Sustainable Development of Malaysia where he had participated in many discussion on Environmental Quality Act 1974 with Director General of Department of Environment.

Besides that, Dr. Sivakumar is a registered Safety Professional, Scaffold Inspector, Industrial Hygiene and CHRA assessor under DOSH.

  • Overview of Use and Standard Exposure Chemical Hazardous to Health (USECHH) Regulation 2000
  • Overview of penalty imposed by DOSH.

12.00noon -13.00 pm

Lunch

13.00pm-15.00pm

  • Importance of MSDS at workplace.
  • Labeling requirement.
  • Warning signs.

15.00pm-15.15pm

Break

15.15pm-16.45pm

  • Site tour and audit.
  • Presentation by participants.

End of day 1

  • Safe Work Practice

  • Overview in house procedures on chemical management.

  • First aid & emergency facilities.
